My name is Vinh La, but all my friends call me by my Cantonese name “Wing”. I was born in Saigon, Vietnam. Growing up in a country during a period of endless war and uncertainty, I was fortunate to have found peace and purpose through music. When I came to the U.S, I studied music at the University of Massachusetts Boston. I am lucky to have met many great instructors who helped me nurture my passion for music.
My first drum lessons were with Nguyen Tinh in Saigon, then with Van Gordon, and with John Harrigan from the Berklee College of Music. I am fortunate to have performed with the “Q Sing” Music club, Fancy Al Cath “The instant Dance band”, Dadgad Rick Gottlieb, “The Culture Fusions Band” and “The Blue Heaven Wedding Band.” I am most thankful to my parents, for their belief and support of my dream, and to my siblings, for putting up with the countless “jam sessions” through the years in the basement of our home.
